Day one you walk in. Day two you go in.
From Ollantaytambo the train leaves you at Kilometre 104. You walk the last stretch of the original Inca road, past Chachabamba and the terraces of Wiñay Wayna, and arrive through the Sun Gate with Machu Picchu below you. You sleep at Hotel Ferré Machu Picchu or Hotel Santuario Machupicchu, and in the morning you return to the citadel with your English-speaking Indigenous Quechua guide. We aim for Circuit 3, our favourite, or Circuit 2; circuits are never guaranteed.

Price per person, based on a shared room. About eleven kilometres and six hours of walking on stone steps. Permits are issued by name, so bring your original passport. The trail closes every February. We recommend booking 30 days or more ahead, because Inca Trail permits, hotels and citadel tickets fill early, and we need at least 15 days. Travelling sooner? If your plans change
Cancel within 48 hours of booking, with your Experience at least 30 days away, for a full refund. After that, Machu Picchu tickets and Inca Trail permits are issued in your name by the Peruvian government and cannot be refunded, so: 30 days or more before, a full refund less any tickets or permits already issued; 15 to 29 days, 75%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 25%; less than 72 hours or a missed departure, no refund. With 30 days' notice we move your date at no charge from us. If we cancel, or weather, a rail suspension, a strike or a site closure does, you choose a full refund or a new date.
